Leesa Wheelahan

Leesa Wheelahan is a professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto, Canada, where she holds the William G. Davis Chair in Community College Leadership. Prior to joining OISE in 2014, Leesa was an associate professor in adult and vocational education at the University of Melbourne. Leesa commenced her career in tertiary education as a TAFE teacher in 1994, at Victoria University. Much of her career has been in teaching vocational education teachers, while her research currently focuses on the value of public vocational education institutions such as TAFE. She has published widely in critiquing markets and competency-based training models of curriculum in vocational education, tertiary education policy, pathways to and through tertiary education and the labour market, and the role of knowledge in curriculum. She has undertaken research for the Australian Education Union and Education International, which is the international federation of teacher education unions.
