Anna Hogan

Anna Hogan is a senior research fellow in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership at the Queensland University of Technology. Previously, Anna worked as a secondary school teacher in a number of government schools across Queensland. Her research focuses on equitable public school provision, and in particular, she focuses on issues of privatisation and commercialisation in schooling. She currently holds a number of ARC funded projects that aim to investigate the global privatisation of public schooling; the intensification of teachers’ work and the role of commercial ‘time-saving’ edtech devices; and the effects of philanthropy and private income in Australian public schooling. She has published widely on these topics and has worked closely with school systems and teachers’ unions in relation to these issues, including Education International, the Australian Education Union, and a number of AEU’s state branches. Anna’s recent book is called: ‘Privatisation and commercialisation in public education: How the nature of schooling is changing’ (Routledge).
