Susan L. Robertson
Susan L. Robertson is Professor of Sociology of Education, and Head of the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge, UK. She is also a Fellow of Wolfson College. Prior to taking up this post in Cambridge in 2016 Susan held a academic posts at the University of Bristol, UK, the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and Edith Cowan University in Western Australia. Susan has made a major contribution to research on education policies at multiple scales from the local to the global, state transformations, teachers labour, and social justice. She is the founding editor of the journal – Globalisation Societies and Education which she started in 2003. Susan has been a PI on large EU Horizon projects as well as being a policy advisor to the European Commission. Her recent books include Public Private Partnerships in Education (2012), Global Regionalisms and Higher Education (2016) and Space, Place and Educational Settings (2021). Over this period Susan has worked closely with teacher unions and professional organisations concerned with how to stem the tide of ongoing privatisation in education.
